49. Don't Make Assumptions

The third agreement from the book The Four Agreemts is: Don't Make Assumptions. "We have a tendency to make assumptions about everything. The problem with making assumptions is that we believe they are the truth. We could swear they are real. We make an assumption, we misunderstand, we take it personally, and we end up creating a whole big drama for nothing."

Rather than making assumptions, we can get curious. We can ask questions. We can try to step into another's shoes and seek to understand what they are feeling rather than making assumptions that are most likely incorrect and creating needless suffering. When our communication is clear, we ask questions, and we seek to understand, we can clear the pathway to connection and understanding. This is something that we can work on daily and by small and simple steps are great things brought to pass.

In fact, this month in our Becoming Membership, we are diving deep into creating the daily habits that bring about the results we want. I invite you to join our community and get the daily support, coaching, and accountability as we make our way through the Becoming Cycle. Check it out at: www.stacyharmer.com/becoming
